ACCC loses price fixing case in the Federal Court
- article from "Australian
Convenience Store NEWS" July/August 2007 issue
In an important decision for independent fuel retailers, a Federal Court judge dismissed the ACCC's petrol price fixing case against eight fuel retailing companies and 10 individuals operating in the Geelong market. Not only is the judgment a great relief for the retailers involved, it has important lessons for independent fuel retails now and in the future.
APCO Submission for the ACCC petrol inquiry
APCO industry experience extends over a 45 year period and draws on the learning's of both the company and individuals within it on aspects of the retail petroleum industry from acting as a agent for a major international oil company to the creation of a 19 site independently franchised group delivery of lowest possible fuel board prices to predominately rural Victoria.
The APCO brand relies on first class convenience stores equipped with the latest innovative retail strategies & equipment, car washes and fast food tenants, where possible.
The APCO submission stresses the need for a level playing field at the retail level, the need for complete transparency of TGP, the dangers of defacto predatory pricing arrangements emanating from poor transparency of the TGP.
APCO supports the appointment of
an industry ombudsman who has appropriate levels of industry experience, and
who will have the power to resolve differences.
